My dog is the least efficient walker I know. She stops at every gate, investigates every hedge, and has opinions about certain lampposts.
For years I tugged at the lead. Now I mostly let her lead the way, and I see far more of the neighbourhood because of it.
Her pace
She has taught me that a walk is not a route between two points. It is a series of small investigations, each worth stopping for.
On the days I am too busy to walk, she reminds me. She is usually right.
