Chasing Light: A Morning with My Camera

I set the alarm for half past four and nearly turned it off. By five I was in a field with frost on my boots and mist sitting on the grass like breath.

The cattle were already up. They stood in the haze, half visible, steaming gently, completely unbothered by the person crouching at the edge of the field.

First light

The light came slowly, then all at once. For about ten minutes everything glowed. Then it was simply morning.

I took maybe twenty frames. Two of them are among my favourites this year. The other eighteen were the price of being there.
