Waterfalls, Rain, and Wet Boots

The forecast was miserable and we went anyway. Waterfalls, we reasoned, are at their best after rain.

We were right. The falls were loud and full and the whole gorge was a deep, saturated green. We were also soaked within an hour, every day.

Bad weather, good days

There is a particular happiness in being thoroughly wet with no way to fix it. You stop trying to stay dry and start enjoying the walk.

Pack good boots and a spare pair of socks. Leave the umbrella; it will only break.
