In summer the park becomes the city’s living room. Everyone is there: families, couples, people reading alone, kids running between the trees.
I spend most evenings there from June to August. A blanket, a book I rarely open, and the sound of a hundred conversations at once.
A shared place
Public space is one of the great gifts of a city. It asks nothing of you except to be there.
When the evenings get shorter again, I will miss it. But I will also know it is waiting next year.
