Fog removes the background. Distant hills disappear, trees fade in layers, and suddenly a cluttered view becomes a few clean shapes.
I drove up into the hills on a grey Sunday morning hoping for exactly that, and spent three hours photographing the same small stretch of forest as the cloud moved through it.
Less is more
The best frames were the emptiest. One tree, a little water, a lot of white.
Photographers spend so much effort adding to a picture. Fog teaches you what happens when you take things away.
